Indian team once again succumbed to its so called Semi-final fever. After many days the Indian cricket team repeated the history of losing in the semi-finals. Prior to this match Indian team was in a great form and all the players looked very confident. But all in all India lost the match by 95 runs and Aussies again made it into the finals. Let’s take a brief that how the match went.
The match started with India losing the toss and Aussies selected to bat first. David Warner went early scoring just 12 runs but Aaron Finch and Steven Smith together played a great innings. Finch scored 81 runs of 116 balls and Smith made a whopping 105 runs out of 93 balls. All these wickets were taken by Umesh Yadav. Glen Maxwell and Shane Watson scored 23 and 28 runs respectively. In last 10 overs Australian batsman scored 90 runs which included an excellent 27 runs by Mitchell Johnson of just 9 balls. Michal Clarke scored just 10 runs when he was caught by Rohit Sharma and bowled by Mohit Sharma. James Faulkner too scored 21 of 12 balls. All the effort made Aussies to stand on the score of 328 runs with the loss of 7 wickets in 50 over. The best thing about Australian batting was almost every player who came to bat made a contribution of at least 20 25 runs apart from the big innings of Finch and Smith.
Now entered Indian team to bat with Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma opening the innings. Shikhar Dhawan looked confident and scored 45 runs but got caught by Maxwell with an unnecessary hit. Thus Indian tem lost its first wicket and thereafter vice captain Virat kohli made his way to pavilion after wasting 13 balls with just 1 run in his kitty. Just after 2 overs in 18th over Rohit got bowled by Johnson and thus India was 91/3. By now it looked like Aussies have made the pressure over Indians and the same happened. Suresh Raina went with just 7 runs. Rahane and skipper M S Dhoni stuck to the wicket but Rahane wasted too many balls to score 44 runs which did not helped the Indian team. He too went pavilion in 37th over and now India was on a very critical stage. 5 wickets down with 150 runs to chase was in fact a very tough task to accomplish as there was no one to support skipper from the other end. Wickets kept coming for Australia and final blow to the Indian team was Dhoni with his 65 runs, only half-century from the team. India got all out for the first time in the entire series with just 233 runs.
India lost by 95 runs but it played well throughout the series especially after its performance in the tri-series held earlier this year. The chances of Indian team were not very good but till semi final it played well and the credit goes to Skipper M S Dhoni was his captainship skills. Steven Smith got man of the match award. Now everybody is eyeing on the final match on 29th of this month. Will Australia will once again create history of this time New Zealand will grab the chance. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and look ahead for a good game.
